We tried to give him a pep talk and explain it ahead of time but he didn't really seem to get it and kept giving us a blank stare. . . .
Grandma Sears got him warmed up.
Then Aunt Joanna gave him some pointers. I warned him about what she had taught me. Turns out she was my swim coach when I was a little kid. All I remember is I swam nothing but the "for fun" races and winning "exhibition" ribbons. All that 7am swim practices didn't seem to pay off for me. I always point that out when we are at the swimming pool together. Hopefully Joanna's advice (good advice i'm sure) is understood better by Elliot than by his dad!
